NEW YORK -- The Fawcett City Shazam' QB was a landslide winner Friday in balloting by a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league. Favre won the MVP award by amassing season totals of 251/398, 4068 yds, 38 TD.

"I really accept this award on behalf of the team and the organization because there is no way I would have accomplished this much without everyone creating a winning environment," Favre said after receiving the award.

CB Nate Clements (STL) wins Defensive Player of the Year!

NEW YORK -- In his own view, Nate Clements put together his best professional season in 2002. How appropriate, then, that he is The Associated Press 2002 Defensive Player of the Year.

The versatile Clements had 80 tackles, 0 sacks, 9 interceptions, and 0 forced fumbles with 4 defensive touchdowns, and was a key to the Rams' turnaround on defense. His role on the defense earned Clements a majority of votes Tuesday from a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league.

QB Peyton Manning (ORL) wins Offensive Player of the Year!

Orlando Calrissians quarterback Peyton Manning is Sporting News' Offensive Player of the Year, as selected by a panel of 636 players, coaches and executives.

Manning received 299 first-place votes from the 583 players polled.

Manning in 2002 had 4681 yards and 35 TDs, with only 9 interceptions for a QB Rating of 113.4.
