Portland Forest Dragons quarterback Brett Favre is Sporting News' Offensive Player of the Year, as selected by a panel of 636 players, coaches and executives.

Favre received 299 first-place votes from the 583 players polled.

Favre in 2000 had 4997 yards and 47 TDs, with only 12 interceptions for a QB Rating of 116.4.

LB Junior Seau (CCF) wins Defensive Player of the Year!

NEW YORK -- In his own view, Junior Seau put together his best professional season in 2000. How appropriate, then, that he is The Associated Press 2000 Defensive Player of the Year.

The versatile Seau had 113 tackles, 17 sacks, 0 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles with 0 defensive touchdowns, and was a key to the Flash' turnaround on defense. His role on the defense earned Seau a majority of votes Tuesday from a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league.
